Embark on a thrilling journey through Mexico’s whitewater paradise at Aventurec in Tlapacoyan, Veracruz. Join me in the heart-pounding rapids, breathtaking scenery, and vibrant culture that make this kayaker’s dream destination unforgettable.
Unforgettable Adventures at Aventurec
This past winter break I went on my first ever kayaking trip out of the country to Aventurec in Tlapacoyan, Veracruz, Mexico. As a matter of fact, I had the time of my life. I wanted to gain experience running bigger waterfalls and push my kayaking skills in a different type of whitewater. I have to say this is an incredible place.
Starting with Aventurec, the hotel is beautiful. Nestled in the edges of the Mexican jungle outside Tlapacoyan it has fabulous views to wake up to. Additionally, it is very reasonably priced.
Culinary Delights at Aventurec
Indulgence doesn’t end with the views. The food is delicious with a large breakfast and dinner buffet and occasionally tacos out front, the best I have ever eaten. The people are also incredibly friendly, as kayakers tend to be. I arrived rusty and admittedly slightly unprepared but everyone was super understanding and helpful.
Onto kayaking, from day one I was thrust into some of the most exhilarating kayaking experiences of my life. Specifically, I tackled the Big Banana section of the Alseseca River. I shook off the rust pretty fast. After that, it was just stout and fun rapids. One after another I saw gorgeous scenery in the jungle gorge.
Each day brought new challenges and triumphs. This trip pushed me to my limits, and each day ended with tequila.
One of the highlights of my trip was the Alseseca Race. It is a raucous celebration of all things kayaking. The race itself was great, despite me not knowing the lines. Above all, the energy was incredible.
Celebrating the Kayaking Culture at Aventurec
After the race was a great party that involved lots of tequila, dancing, and music. It was a night I’ll never forget. From what little I remember, there was a fitting tribute to the spirit of adventure that defines Aventurec.
