Calleva’s Horse Adventure Programs (CHAPs) specialize in beginner to intermediate instruction. We offer a wide variety of programming, including:

Advanced riders can take advantage of our wide-ranging facilities (indoor & outdoor arenas, cross country fields, and access to trails along the Potomac and C&O Canal).
Our philosophy is very holistic and hands-on. Our goals are to instill confidence while riding and understanding while caring for the horses. Students are taught to groom, muck, feed, lead, and handle our horses.
As with all Calleva programs, our teaching style is energetic and lively; and designed so the rider leaves our barn empowered and thirsty for more — Giddy-Up!
Calleva Farm
The Calleva Farm is situated just passed Poolesville in the heart of the Agricultural Reserve. The farm borders the C&O National Historic Park between the Monocacy Aqueduct and White’s Ferry. With over 160 acres of private land and access to the C&O and Potomac River without having to cross any roads — our farm is ideal for individuals & groups who like to ride.
Equestrian Programs
Boarding
Calleva currently offers field boarding. Our Field Board includes grassy pastures, 3 rail board fencing, access to 24/7 round bale, a shelter – 4 horse maximum per field – 2 feedings a day, 2 muckings in shelter and around the round bale daily. COST: $500 per month (4lbs daily grain included)
NOTE: All horses will have a 2 week quarantine before they are allowed into the fields with other horses. We require all horses to be up to date with vaccinations and dewormers, as well as provide proof of negative Coggins. Contact: Megan@calleva.org
Events & Groups
Girl Scout Programs
Girl scout programs run on Saturday & Sunday afternoons. The program is 3 hours long. Scouts enjoy a rotation between a riding lesson and an unmounted lesson — a hands-on approach about a horse related topic.
Scouts participate in barn chores to wrap-up which allows them to appreciate the full experience of a day at the barn!
$75 per rider (8 – 10 riders required) Ages 7 and up. Weight limit is 180lbs.
Birthday Parties
Birthday Parties run on Saturday & Sunday afternoons. This 2-hour long program rotates between a riding lesson and a craft or horse related activity. Indoor room and fridge available for party hosts.
$60 per rider (8 – 10 riders required) Minimum charge is for 8 riders. If you bring fewer than 8 riders, you will be charged the minimum.
Independent use of outdoor space is allowed for an additional 30 minutes after the supervised session for cake and gifts. Calleva does not provide any party decorations/supplies/food/beverage. Ages 7 and up. Weight limit is 180lbs.
