You choose a weeknight-Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday! Featuring guest instructors, these weeknight clinics will challenge you philosophically, by asking you to think about how water and boat interact, physically, by putting you in big holes, and mentally, by pushing your comfort zone. Instructors this year may be Bobby Miller, Jordan Taylor, Steve-O McKone, and Matthew Hanlon. Weeknight classes are 5:30 – 7:30 pm, location will be determined based on river level and what the instructor’s lesson plan. Students will be notified of location through email.

Saturdays are 9-11 am, work-out style, meaning the whole Fall Training group will be practicing skills and training for fitness.

Participants who qualify will be invited on a free weekend trip to the Gauley. To qualify, you must have the skills and have completed a 16 hour Swift Water Rescue class or Rescue Ready Levels 1-5 and Rescue Scenarios. You may drive to Summersville, WV Friday night or Saturday morning. The whole group will run the Lower together on Saturday. After a fun day on the river, we will get dinner in town, camp Saturday night and break into two groups for the following day. Those who are ready will be invited to run the Upper Gauley, others can have redemption or a chance for more play on the Lower. Sunday we will have breakfast in camp and head out to the river, planning to take out mid afternoon and head back home.

Please register for the weeknight you wish to attend practice, and trip you wish to attend. Participants should have a play boat or half slice boat for Fall Training weeknight classes. Fall Lite should use a half slice or creeker.  If you need to rent one send us a message.

Fall Training Lite

We are continuing our Lite program with a fall edition! We are going to be meeting Thursdays 5:30 – 7:30 and Saturdays 10 -12, in our half slice or creek boat to work on skills that we will need to tackle the New River and the Lower Gauley. To take this class you need to have a roll that is more than 50% reliable and a can do attitude because we will be pushing you!
