Surfing Camp is no vacation at the beach. Campers will come home with a better understanding of the ocean. We will spend the beginning of the week learning the foundations of surfing and ocean safety. As our skills progress we will learn how to read the break, surfing etiquette, and try our hand at different types of boards. Throughout the week campers we will spend some time off our boards and beach and visit some of the local community. We will make a stop at a local board shaper and learn about what goes into make a fiberglass surf board. One afternoon campers will volunteer on a service project for the local surfing chapter. Finally a week at the beach would not be complete without a night on the boardwalk playing video games and eating tasty treats. We will use Assateague Island as our base camp. The island offers a long shoreline, plenty of space, a great shore break, and we can not forget about the wild ponies. A week of Surfing Camp is perfect for any skill level surfer or just someone looking for an amazingly fun week.
