Adventure Camps are at the heart of Calleva. For two decades, we’ve been committed to offering a camp with small numbers of kids and a shared, specific focus. One week is the perfect length of time to introduce a camper to an outdoor adventure activity and allow the experience to blossom.
We’ve built our curriculum around a “building block” style that brings the campers along a journey of discovery and fun. Campers develop at their own pace. Tools and instruction are made available, goals are set, and achievements celebrated for the individual as well as the group. Campers work within groups of 12-14, led by our Calleva-trained Activity Instructor and Group Counselor. Our camper to staff ratio is 6:1 for most programs.
Each activity’s fun-filled curriculum prepares campers for the Thursday overnight, which is the culmination of the week! The overnight is not optional. We do not provide transportation for adventure campers on Thursday evening and Friday morning. If your child is not ready for an overnight campout, check out our day camps.
This year, Calleva is offering campers the option to purchase a GearBag during checkout which includes all the camping gear you will need for your overnight. These duffle bags will come home with your camper on the bus before your overnight so they can be packed with personal clothes and toiletries!
Adventure Campers choose an outdoor activity, which is the focus for their week. Each camp week also includes fun group challenges and games. Adventure weeks are offered as one-week programs, but they are complementary. Calleva can help create a multiple-week experience that allows your child to mature within a single interest or combine skills for all-around development.
Rain/Storm Plan: We are aware that there are concerns regarding Rain & Storms at camp. All Calleva activities take place outdoors, and sometimes the weather requires a change in itinerary. If for any reason, severe rain or storm requires us to stop a group’s activity, the Instructor & Head Counselor for that group will activate their pre-planned alternate activity. Each group has its own alternative plan, which includes a safe location under cover. For adverse weather (such as severe storms), groups have access to nearby temporary shelters or can use Calleva bus as a temporary shelter. We will continue with outdoor activities as long as it’s possible to be safe and with happy campers.
