VA Rock Climbing Camp

  • This week includes an exciting Thursday Overnight*!

  • Ages 9-15 / Open to all skill levels
  • Transportation available to/from The Madeira School
  • This camp is based at The Madeira School, but may travel to other sites nearby including
    • Great Falls Park
  • Skill development includes
    • Climbing strategies
    • Safe belaying techniques
    • Communication, problem solving, and teamwork

 

*Thursday Night camp out is an integral part of the program and NOT OPTIONAL. It is not possible to pick up campers on Thursday or drop off on Friday for most overnight programs. If your camper does not want to participate in an overnight, please sign up for one of our NON OVERNIGHT options

VA Teen Extreme Sampler (Ages 12-15)

VA Teen Extreme Sampler Camp — 2-week sessions available!
Virginia’s Teen Sampler camp is the perfect way to introduce your teen to outdoor adventure sports. Set on Calleva’s campus at Madeira School, our two-week sampler format gives teens experience with rafting, stand-up paddleboarding, rock climbing, building survival skills in camper vs. wild, and getting on the river to island hop and explore. They’ll get to do multiple days of most activities, building skills and growing more confident as they take on new adventures never before seen in Teen Sampler Camp!

VA SUP Camp

  • $805/week
  • This week includes an exciting Thursday Overnight*!
  • Available weeks 2, 3, 5-11
  • Ages 9-15 / Open to all skill levels
  • Transportation available to/from The Madeira School
  • This camp is based at The Madeira School, but may travel to other sites nearby including
    • Lock 10
    • Mather Gorge/Maryland Chute
    • Carderock
  • Skill development includes
    • Paddle strokes and balancing techniques
    • Reading whitewater
    • Ferries, peel outs, eddies, surfing, and board recovery

    • Shelter Building and Base Camp
    • Rappelling
    • Fire Building

VA Sailing Camp

  • Ages 9-15 / Open to all skill levels
  • Transportation is available to/from Madeira School
  • Travels off-site to various locations, which vary each week based on a variety of factors.
  • Skill development includes
    • Learning to rig the boat
    • Points of sail
    • Plotting a course
    • Setting

  • This Camp does NOT have an Overnight

  • Ages 9-15 / Open to all skill levels, but some experience in a kayak (even on flatwater) is recommended
  • Transportation is available to/from The Madeira School
  • This camp is based at the Madeira School, but may travel to other sites nearby including

    • Boat control and paddle strokes
    • Attainment and surfing

VA Sampler Camp
Virginia’s sampler camp is a great intro to outdoor adventure sports. Set on Calleva’s campus at the Madeira School, Sampler campers will raft, stand-up paddleboard, rock climb, build survival skills in camper vs. wild, and island hop while exploring the Potomac River.
