Discover and explore the beautiful Potomac River in easy-to-paddle boats. From a first river trip, a first date, or showing guests around DC– River Tours are fun for everyone!

Fall Foliage Tours

Explore a part of the Potomac River that you can only experience from the seat of your kayak. During this trip we will be weaving between islands searching out for Bald Eagles, Turtles, and other types of wildlife that live on the shores surrounded by amazing fall colors. No experience necessary for this amazing adventure.

Itinerary:

  • Meet your group at Pennyfield Lock
  • Get fitted for Personal Flotation Device (PFD), Paddle, and Kayak
  • Launch on Muddy Branch Creek
  • Paddle into the Potomac River
  • As you paddle between islands your guide will point out historical points, wildlife, and local lore
  • Paddle back to Pennyfield Lock.

Full Moon Kayak

Find your zen under the stars while kayaking on the Potomac River. This 4 hour tour starts with an introduction to your gear along side a cook-out style dinner. We will launch on the scenic Seneca Creek, get some basic instruction, and head out to the Potomac River to enjoy the night-scape. Once we have had our fill we will head back to land to enjoy a fire and drinks.

Calleva provides all necessary paddling gear, snacks, and a very knowledgeable guide.

  • Meet your guide at Riley’s Lock
  • Get fitted for Personal Flotation Device (PFD), Paddle, and Kayak
  • While getting geared up enjoy a cookout-style dinner.
  • launch before sunset on Seneca Creek
  • Paddle into the Potomac River and your guide will point out constellations, planets, and natural sights.
  • Paddle back to Riley’s Lock and enjoy a bonfire and your favorite fireside beverage (BYOB)

Kayak the Monuments

After getting to know your guide they will take you out on the boundary channel, quickly you will feel as though you are no longer near a major city as you will begin to see wildlife such as turtles, herons, and Osprey. You will paddle under bridges and into the Potomac where you will the skyline of DC for the firs time. We will take a stop at Roosevelt Island to admire the monument, after that we will paddle on over to the Georgetown waterfront. We will paddle along the banks of DC, while your guide explains what buildings are what, the history of the city, and of course the monuments. Once we get our fill we will paddle across our nations river back to the south side of the Boundary Channel to where we began.

  • Meet and greet Calleva Instructor at Columbia Island Marina
  • Get fitted for Personal Floatation Device (PFD), Paddle, and Kayak
  • Head out through the boundary channel and into the Potomac River
  • Stop at Theodore Roosevelt Island
  • Paddle to the Georgetown waterfront, past Rock Creek, and the Tidal Basin all while learning the rich history of the DC area.
  • Paddle up the south end of the boundary channel back to Columbia Island Marina
