Kayak the Monuments


  • Meet and greet Calleva Instructor at Columbia Island Marina
  • Get fitted for Personal Floatation Device (PFD), Paddle, and Kayak
  • Head out through the boundary channel and into the Potomac River
  • Stop at Theodore Roosevelt Island
  • Paddle to the Georgetown waterfront, past Rock Creek, and the Tidal Basin all while learning the rich history of the DC area.
  • Paddle up the south end of the boundary channel back to Columbia Island Marina

Kayak the Monuments

After getting to know your guide they will take you out on the boundary channel, quickly you will feel as though you are no longer near a major city as you will begin to see wildlife such as turtles, herons, and Osprey. You will paddle under bridges and into the Potomac where you will the skyline of DC for the firs time. We will take a stop at Roosevelt Island to admire the monument, after that we will paddle on over to the Georgetown waterfront. We will paddle along the banks of DC, while your guide explains what buildings are what, the history of the city, and of course the monuments. Once we get our fill we will paddle across our nations river back to the south side of the Boundary Channel to where we began.
