To train everyone that comes how to rescue themselves and other efficiently, effectively, and safely. We will be using the American Canoe Association Swiftwater rescue curriculum as a guideline, but we will be emphasizing topics that pertain to group and site-specific needs.

Responsibility on the river comes with proper safety knowledge. We hold a rescue course at the end the season to train folks that learned to kayak over to summer and folks that need a refresher, so that they can be more helpful in a situation if one should arise. We will be covering boat-based rescues, throw ropes techniques, foot entrapments, and more. Itinerary is fluid to cover subjects the group wants to focus on.
Steve-O’s courses are very hands on– so don’t expect a lot of classroom time, but expect a lot of doing and practicing skills!
