SURFING ITINERARY:
Come by bus or meet us at Riley's Lock at 9:00am Sunday morning. We will be returning mid-day on Saturday.
Camping: North beach Campground, Cape Woods Campground. Daytime activities: Surfing; bike rentals if there are no waves; travel to surfshops; and body surfing.
Day 1: Depart from Rileys for OBX(Hatteras). Set up and hang around camp for evening.
Day 2: Breakfast. Leave to surf Frisco area. Find lunch. Continue surf. Back to camp for dinner. Games/fire/frisbee
Day 3: Surf S-turns. One of the best spots on the entire East coast. Swells hit the shelf at a boxy angle, creating the dredging pits that Hatteras is famous for.
Day 4: Surf Nagshead. No longer as famous as the days of yore, Nags Head will have minimal crowds and lots of waves for kids of all surfing ability.
Day 5: Surf Okracoke. Another break that can be near perfection during the summer catching southerly swells from the tropics. A more speedy wave, but miles of endless beach to find the perfect peak.
Day 6: Surf Hatteras Lighthouse. The location of the Eastern Surfing Association championships, Hatteras has fun beach break waves. Drive half way home.
Day 7: Drive the second half of trip and return to Riley's Lock mid-day.
*The days are mostly just going to be filled with surfing the various breaks around the Cape Hatteras area. The kids will be mostly surfing and hanging on the beach throughout the day. In the case of bad weather or no swell, there are various things to do around the area. These activities include movie theater, go-carts, surf-shops, boardwalk, fishing, etc...
