    1st ANNUAL CALLEVA ADVENTURE RACE

    RACE TIMES EXTENDED 1 HOUR
    NOW FROM 7:30-9:00

    Welcome to our first annual CALLEVA Adventure Race! Calleva Adventure Race 2008 will be a great race for those new to the sport as well as for seasoned athletes looking for a challenge.
    This year, we'll give you 9 hours* to complete the course. No navigational "plotting" experience required. If you can read a map, you can do this race! Rogain style orientieering check points will spice up the course for the fastest! Preplotted maps provided by Calleva.

    Teams (2-3 Racers)


    Distances:

    • 5-15 miles of running, trekking, orienteering;
    • 15-20 miles of mountain biking;
    • 5-10 miles of mostly downstream flat water canoe paddling with navigation around islands; - team Challenge.

    Specifics:

    • Canoes, PFDs and paddles are provided by race organizers / Calleva. Limited number of mountain bikes will be available for rent from Calleva.
    • Free prerace orientieering clinic will be provided by Team Calleva AR
    • Race registration will begin in March. Race Registration fee: $100 per person The fee includes: T-shirt; canoe, paddle, PFD rental; goodie bag; post race food; maps; passports.
      • Bring the payment ($100 per racer) to the race check-in.
      • Fill the forms and fax to Calleva 240-414-2475
      • Calleva accepts Cash, Check, Visa, & Mastercard.
    • Grab some friends and come on out for a great, fun CALLEVA style challenge!
    • Prizes for top 3 team placements in each category.

    Schedule:

    • 7:30 AM - Registration and Check-In opens at Riley's Lock. All team members must be present for mandatory gear check. Bibs, number for bikes, maps, rules of travel, reserved rental bikes and give-a-way stuff will be distributed to teams at the end of check-in.
    • 8:30 AM - Registration closes. Bikes and all equipment for biking section must be loaded on truck for transportation to Transition Area.
    • 8:30 AM - Orienteering clinic.
    • 8:45 AM - Mandatory race briefing. All teams and team members must be present.
    • 9:15 AM - All teams will be loaded on Calleva buses and transported to the start of the race.
    • 10:00 AM - Race starts. Location will be announced at the race briefing.
    • 7:00 PM* - Official race finish at Riley's Lock. Teams that cross the finish line after that time will be unofficially ranked and will be ineligible for awards.

    * Race time has been extended by 1 hour. We ran a pre-race and determined that an extra is needed. Race Details:
