1995 Overview

Camp Calleva was starting its second season in the summer of 1995. The core activities remained the same including swimming, camping skills, and arts and crafts (including instruction in sewing, woodworking, pottery, and leather work). Each week had a theme and cost a specific amount depending on the activity. Swimming at Poolesville Pool and Arts & Crafts in the basement of the Darnestown Rd Office basement.

Program

The camp doubled in weeks in just one year, offering eight one week sessions!
  • Week 1 & 2: Canoe & Kayak
  • Week 3: Horseback Riding
  • Week 3: Sailing (added alternative)
  • Week 4 & 5: Rock Climbing
  • Week 6 & 7: Hiking & Camping
  • Week 8: High Adventure - Linville Gorge!
Again camp was held adjacent to the Calleva Farm on the banks of the lake. Council was still on the other side of the cable bridge taking entirely too long to get there! The Haunted Bus home to Arts & Crafts, and we put in a dock for the lake.

The Markoff's Haunted Forest was scheduled to open at both our parent's property at Valley Mill, and the new home outside Poolesville; but permitting kept us at Valley Mill until next year when both locations were made available.
